The Department of Medical Examiner is accredited by the following organizations:
National Association of Medical Examiners
(NAME)
The national professional organization of physician medical examiners, medicolegal death investigators and death investigation system administrators who perform the official duties of the medicolegal investigation of deaths of public interest in the United States.
California Medical Association-Continuing Medical Education
(CMA-CME)
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has designated CMA California’s intrastate accrediting agency. The Medical Examiner complies with Assembly Bills 1195 and 241 on cultural and linguistic competency in continuing education programs.
Accreditation Council of Graduation Medical Education
(ACGME)
A private, 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization that sets standards for US graduate medical education programs and the institutions that sponsors them, and renders accreditation decisions based on compliance.
California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training
(POST)
Established by the Legislature in 1959 to set minimum selection and training standards for California law enforcement.
ANSI National Accreditation Board
(ANAB)
Accredits management systems certification bodies, calibration and testing labs, forensic test and calibration service providers, inspection bodies, police crime units, reference material producers, and proficiency test providers.
