April 6, 2026 – The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner (DME) responded this morning to the 100 block of East Osgood Street in Long Beach after being notified yesterday of the discovery of possible human remains.
Members from the DME’s Special Operations Response Team (SORT) recovered a skeletonized human skull and mandible and brought the recovered remains to the Forensic Science Center for further examination. The DME case number is 2026-05656 and is Unidentified Doe #196.
On April 5, the DME received a call from the Long Beach Police Department to report possible human remains found in DeForest Park in Long Beach. A DME investigator responded yesterday to conduct a scene assessment in advance of today’s recovery efforts.
