June 2, 2025 – The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner (DME) determined the cause of death for 34-year-old celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, Jr. as Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia and disseminated Cryptococcus neoformans due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Pneumocystis jirovecii and Cryptococcus neoformans are fungal organisms that can cause severe infections in people with weakened immune systems. The manner of death is natural.
Mr. Guerrero arrived at a local hospital on the afternoon of February 21 after complaints of not feeling well. Death was pronounced the following morning at 0048 hours by a hospital doctor.
A DME deputy medical examiner completed an examination of Mr. Guerrero on March 5, and, after the return of relevant tests and studies, the cause and manner of death were certified June 2.
The Medical Examiner’s report will be released at a later date.
